Relocating to Thailand: pets, schools and moving

We handle the paperwork: pet import applications, translation and certification of school records, and powers of attorney. Your chosen removal company or airline carries the goods or animals; we are not a carrier.

Bringing dogs and cats into Thailand

  • File form R.1/1 with the animal quarantine station at the port of entry at least 7 business days before departure. The station takes about 5 business days to issue the permit once documents are complete.
  • Attach a passport copy, flight itinerary, a photo of the pet, and an English vaccination record showing the microchip number and veterinarian details.
  • Dogs: rabies, distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and leptospirosis vaccines. Cats: rabies and feline panleukopenia.
  • The import permit is valid for 60 days, and a health certificate from a government veterinarian in the origin country is required.

After a first vaccination the animal must wait 21 days before travel, and a first rabies vaccine must be given at 12 weeks of age or older. Conditions vary by origin country.

Schools and family documents

  • Translation and certification of birth certificates, school transcripts and children's vaccination records
  • Dependant or student visas aligned with the parent's visa
  • Admission is the school's decision; we make sure your file is complete

Frequently asked questions

Will my pet be quarantined?

The quarantine station inspects animals on arrival and may hold them or take samples according to origin-country conditions. Check the requirements attached to your permit.

Is duty payable on household goods?

That depends on Customs rules for personal and household effects. Ask your removal company or customs broker to confirm eligibility before shipping.
